Manaus to the coast... Doable?

Hi there,

Doing a RTW trip now, 500 days driving. I am currently heading Colombia. Soon I will arrive to Manaus, and from there on I'd like to follow the Amazonas to the coast.
Is this doable? are there any roads whatsoever? Any alternate road I should take?

Thanks in advance.

You either float the river down to Belem/Macapa or earlier at Santerem(sp?) and get to TransAmazon Rd or if wanting to drive from Manaus you take BR319 South out of Manaus and head to TransAmazon Rd and East to coast. Need to take these roads in the dry season around June through Novemeber or you can take a boat to Porto Velho following roughly BR319 by river. No roads along the Amazon to the coast. Good year round road to Venezuela in the North from Manaus.

check google earth, it helps
