Mechanic in Buenos Aires
I have to get my Kawasaki KLE serviced (including valves). Can anybody recommend me a mechanic in (preferably downtown) Buenos Aires? Should I buy tires in Buenos Aires or in Santiago de Chile?
Cheers! Karl |

Mariano at Motocare
I wasn't able to meet the Dakarmoto folks when I was in BA, but I've heard great things about them.
I was able to meet Mariano, owner of Motocare, [ Motocare ] and strongly recommend him. I had accumulated many problems between Seattle and Ushuaia, and up to Buenos Aires, through my 8 months on the road, and his team fixed everything in a timely fasion at a very reasonable cost. I'm in Arica, Chile, now and had a problem with my back axle nut - completely stripped because the axle threads had been damaged. I emailed 5 different mechanics and Mariano got back to me immediately with great advice and offered to look for parts. [he suggested going to a "Tornero", or a machinist and simply having him re-thread the axle and buy a new nut. $4.50 later all is well and my only regret is that I'm a little embarrased that I didn't think of it myself but it's a good example of Mariano's helpful professionalism. He also sells and rents motos. Mariano is in the Belgrano neighborhood at: Libertador 6588 4782-1500 info@motocare.com.ar DougsMotorcycleDiary.com |
I agree with Don Quiote about Mariano in Buenos Aires
I also have had good experiences with Mariano and his excellent service department.
I have known Mariano since arriving in Buenos Aires, 2004, when we purchased a Honda NX 400, Falcon and a Honda XR 250 Tornado. He totally supported our five country tour with service and invaluable information. His friend "Pato" does excellent, very creative, frame/rack work too. "Pato" is located a couple blocks from Mariano. Mariano sells and rents bikes as well, and as far as I know he is the only one in BA who rents bikes to indivuals, without a group tour and guide. He speaks English fluently and operates as Motocare at an easy location to find. Mariano is located at: MOTOCARE Libertador 6588 4782-1500 info@motocare.com.ar Hey Don Ouiote, you back on the road? I hate when that happens to back axel nuts, sounds like you need a little SAE... Just give me any excuse at all to ride out.... Charlie Garcia |
