“must” list of places to visit between Ushuaia and Buenos Aires
 

Hello

I need a “must” list of places to visit between Ushuaia and Buenos Aires
I don’t want a guide list I just want a those places that ”you natives” and “you travelers” recommend! :)
I will be traveling in public transportations and eventually in some places I can rent a car.
I like walking and want know some national parks
I will be traveling with my girlfriend in the second part of August and if someone wants to join us in some tracks is more than welcome.

I assume you're going to both east and west coasts?

On the east coast, the only place I found really enjoyable was Valdez Penisula in November because of all the whales. On the west side, there is a lot more to see. Perito Morenio glacier, Torres del Paine National park, etc...

And TDF is very nice too with some great landscapes, especially after traveling down the flat east coast.

Unmissable: far better than TdP IMHO.

Yeah, El Chalten was a pretty cool place too. I liked the free camping area there and I had some of the best Empanandas there!

So you are traveling to TDF in August, which is winter. And down the Atlantic coast.

I'm not sure there's anything to recommend!

Of course, you can go with the Lonely Planet or similar guide book and follow their advice.

Although you are biased there Mick, i would also include El Chalten in my list.:thumbup1:
I hope you are well prepared for the cold especially if you go as far south as my recommendation, Ushuaia. Beautiful scenery and trekking.(Although i am biased there too.....Ahhh las mujeres:-)
If you like skiing you need to check out the west side, Bariloche etc. It is the season after all...

I believe there is a hostal in Rio Grande called Hotel Argentino, which I've heard great things about. Very biker friendly, and I hear they have started a little tradition of hanging parts of travellers wrecked bikes on their wall. Owner operator (Graciel, maybe?) is suppossed to be a super nice lady. I heard about this place after I had already passed going north.

Yep, if you're passing through Rio Grande spend at least a couple of nights there. You're unlikely to meet a nicer person than Graciela, there's off road under cover bike parking and the building itself is beautiful. Make sure that you read the guest books too.

Hi Mikes, I'm suprised at you, missing out the friendliest place in Argentina, Pollo's little nest in Azul, a must for bikers and lovers of blacksmith's forge BBQs if ever there was one. Ride safe.

Hi Mike, sorry, was just thinking of sights rather than accommodation but yes, do stop by at Pollos place in Azul, very friendly place. Wasn't so taken with the so-called 'Welsh Villages' though...
