Need new tires in Bolivia (Pirelli?)
 

Olà motocyclistas!
I'm currently in Paraguay and heading towards Bolivia, where I'll need new tires.
Somebody told me Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the place to be, and it more or less suits in my itinerary. Can anybody confirm this?

I'm driving a KLR 650 with Pirelli MT 60 (130 80 17) on the back and MT 90 scorpion (90 90 21) on the front. I like 'em (not that I can compare with others) so I'll probably go with the same ones if I can find them.

If I can't find them, what are good alternatives? The 70/30 road/gravel ratio these ones have suits me well. I'm guessing when I hit Bolivia it will be more 30 and less 70.

I've been looking on this forum before posting this, but as usual I got lost in the bog of information.

Can anyone confirm if this is still good information? It's from 2011.

It's from 2006, I'm guessing one or two things might have changed.
Cochabamba is also a bit further than Santa Cruz so I'll look into Santa Cruz first.
When I get my new tires I'll be sure to update.

The Pirelli Scorpion Trail is also made in Brazil. It is not as aggressive a tire but last much longer. You can probably get 10 -12,000 miles on a KLR rear.

I think you mixt the dimensions between front and rear ;-)
I bought my new tires in La Paz 1000 bolivianos.
Front Pirelli MT 60 and rear Dunlop K750 same dimension as you wrote.
I also have a KLR650.
I didn't found the scorpion but maybe you will finde it.

Oh... And if you can't finde anything. Ask the police. They are the only persons who ride a KLR in bolivia and are realy nice.

I did get them wrong somehow, thanks for pointing that out. I'm in Santa Cruz now, gonna start looking later. Thanks for the prices, always good to have some reference. And I just heard that the police drive KLRs, how cool is that? They wont be catching the fast driving bad guys though.

I ended up buying a front tire Scorpion Trail at multillantas for 60 dollars, with installation. Very friendly people.
