New rear tire in Bolivia + road info
Hi People, anyone know of a tire shop in Bolivia where a rear tire for a 1200gs 150/70-17 is likely to lurk? Tourance/Anekee2/Heidenau K60 or the like although almost anything with a tread would be acceptable. I'm in Corumba tomorrow and hope to be in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in about a week or so. Any up to date info on the Corumba - Santa Cruz road would also be appreciated. Ride safe.

Surely someone has bought a tire recently in Bolivia.

Hi Maja
You shouldn't have any trouble finding a tire in Santa Cruz. There are numerous bike shops on calle Banzer - the main highway to Cochabamba and on to La Paz. In particular one called Visal (Kawasaki dealer) has good stock of tires and accessories. If not, there is a shop in Cochabamba who definitely has them - i just bought a rear for my F800GS from him (a Pirelli Rally Scorpion i think it was). I can't remember the store address of the top of my head but will add it to this thread when i am home in Cochabamba on Friday. Good luck. |
Thanks Cory, Today I crossed into Bolivia at Curamba/Arroyo de Conception, almost 7 bloody hours, left the hotel in Corumba at 09.15 and finally got the temporary import for the moto into Bolivia at 16.00 so I'm spending the first night in the border town. On the good side I met a bunch of mainly geriatric BMWr1200gs riders from Santa Cruz en route to go animal spoting in Brazil who not only updated me on the roadworks between San Jose and Santa Cruz (no problem) but also recommended BECAR on Av. CaƱoto for tires so if I survive a night on the really cheap beer it looks like my rubber worries are over, first time I've worried about rubber in years. Ride safe.
