Non-motorcycle roads in SA

Hey everyone, after seeing the post about roads where motorbikes are banned in Lima and also having come across them in Vietnam I wondered if there are anymore I should be aware of??

I am starting in Chile this October and hoping to cover most of SA before heading up central and hopefully all the way to Canada.

Speaking for Peru, those roads in Lima are the only ones I know of (and I regularly guide riders all over Peru).

Many people think that since there are only train tracks to Machu Picchu, they could ride the tracks and get there by moto... NO CAN DO! You can go around (1 to 1/2 days each way depending on the season) to Santa Teresa, then moto or taxi to the hydro-electric, then walk the 2 hours of the tracks to Aguas Calientes (at the base of MP), but you can't ride on the tracks. the police are on top of that!

As far as I know, Lima is the only place like this in SA.

Well at least, I did not encounter other places like this in South America.

And for the train tracks to Aguas Caliente. I walked them and I garantee you withing 10 years the foot traffic will be illegal there too. There are too many people walking the tracks and train operators are not happy about that.

Thanks for the replies guys, I wont worry about non-motorcycle roads unless I come across them now and if I do I will post them here!

As far as the Picchus go I will probably be hiking there anyway bier
