Now easier to get a Brazilian License
 

Legally Driving in Brazil has been a gray area for drivers and riders who are from countries like Canada, Spain and China who have not signed an International accord with Brazil.

As of June 6 / 06 the RESOLUÇÃO Nº 193, DE 26 DE MAIO DE 2006 was published which allows Foreigners resident in Brazil to obtain a drivers licence based of an official translation of their home countries licence.

This also opens the door to getting Insurance coverage in Brazil beyond the mandatory licencing coverage.

This applies to Permanent residents of Brasil

As far as I know you can still drive/ride here as a tourist for the valid period of your Visa provided you have insurance coverage.

Brazil Drivers Licence
 

Havent had to do the drivers ed. Went to Sao Paulo got an Official Translation paid the fee and got my licence.

Now that the new legislation is Law, Drivers ed is not required, Just a medical check, Psych, and road test.
