PanAmericana History question
People, how is it?
I'm after (online) info about the PanAmericana - when it was started, by who, why etc etc. Any clues? And yes, in the bottom-feeding world of moto journalism, this counts as research. Cheers, suerte, Dan Walsh |
Hi Dan,
Though this may not give you much help online,I have to recomend Ed Culberson's " Obsessions die hard ( Motorcycling the Pan American Highway's Jungle Gap.)" as well as a brilliant story of Ed getting his bike through the Darien, he details all the history both social and political of the construction of the Pan-Am right from Alaska down to Del Fuego. The book is printed in the USA by Whitehorse Press.I hope this is of help. Cheers Les. |
Dan,
It's going well ta, but I'd rather be on the road out there as apposed to running around the m25 and m1 here fanks. Have a go at emailing Simon Calder - wrote the book 'the Panamericana' (http://www.ulyssesguides.com/ca/fc_1257.htm) - he also writes for the travel section of the Independant. Cheers & hope your plums have healed! Colesy ------------------ http://colesyboy.tripod.com |
