Peru and Ecuador

Hi folks!
We are newbies to HUBB, beginning to feel our way around. We will be flying from the US into Lima in the beginning of April and out of Quito in the beginning of June. We were hoping to buy 2 small motorbikes to adventure along in between, but it looks like selling them at the end would be a problem, as we'll be in a different country than where we bought them. We also considered shipping bikes down and back, or buying there and shipping back, or shipping there and selling them at the end of the trip. Basically we are looking for a way we can do this short tour without spending (or losing) a lot of money. Does anyone have any input on this? We'd appreciate ideas!
We have excellent mechanical skills (well, Marty does) and can speak a reasonable amount of Spanish (well, Stacy can), if either of those help.
Thanks very much -
Best, Stacy and Marty

Good morning

I am currently travelling Ecuador and head for Colombia today. Ecuador is expensive for bikes. I bought in Peru from Toby at aroundtheblock ( he is well known on this site). I bought a Sumo Tekken 250 and it has served me well for 9000km. Toby will buy back so the loss will be around $200 a month.. Can't help with selling in another country from where you bought. You could sell to another traveller but that can be hit or miss.

A loop back to Peru might be the way if budget is an issue. Or you can just travel Peru in the time you have. Plenty to see there and some great and challenging roads.

Get in touch if you need further info.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Omar

contact is: aroundtheblock07@gmail.com

Google around the block, peru and you will see the comprehensive website that explains all.

Toby is good to deal with and my bike has gone well over 9000km in two months.

It is comfortable for my 1.88 frame and advanced years (68)

regards

Peter
