Possible?
Hey Guys
Thinking of heading from Manaus to Sao Gabriel da Chachoeira by boat and then head overland through Colombia to Bogota. Has anyone done this or heard of someone that has? Road Conditions/ is is possible? Thanks Sean |
sorry, but no roads. You would have to continue sailing the Rio Negro, passing Sao Gabriel, up to the Venezuelan border, find another boat that will carry you up the Casiquiare and then the Orinoco River until you reach the first road in Puerto Ayacucho (Venezuela). a looong and expensive river trip, but the adventure of a lifetime.

well in fact to go to Bogota, you could continue sailing a bit further downriver from Puerto Ayacucho, up to Puerto Carreño which is in Colombia, and from there it's like a thousand km of dirt road to Bogota.
9 BMW did that journey Bogota-Puerto Carreño and return in February, 1800 km of which 1500 of dirt, 7 days. details here BMW Motorrad Colombia and http://motorrad.youngmarketing.info/...p?id_noticia=9 |
thanks
now thinking of heading to iquitos then up to coco and making my way to colombia via ecuador.
