procedures of buying bike in BA for foreigner ?
 

Hi everybody ,

I am coming to Buenos Aires on november and want to buy a bike . Can I buy a bike like a citizen without any procedure and paperwork or I should get residence permit .

And Zanella is a good quality motorbike brand or what do you suggest me to buy a scooter between 150-250 cc ?

Is there anything i need to know about the insurance policy for motorbike ?

By the way I am coming from Turkey ...

Please search this forum for recent replies to this questions. I am fairly certain that you will not be able to take newly purchased bike out of Argentina, but you did not mention this need.

Well I’m starting to be tired to reply always the same, come on guys all the information is here on the HUBB, you only need to search for that!!!!

The brief resume:

+ You can buy a bike in Buenos Aires like o a citizen but not without the normal procedures and paperwork that we all here have to do, also you must get a CDI (like the RUT in Chile) what certifies your taxes status.

+ For the first year in your name as a foreigner you can NOT take the bike outside Argentina even temporary.

+ For ride it in Argentina you must get 3rd party insurance here, also you will need an International Driving Permit for the class of bike you will ride.

+ I would suggest to learn and speak some Spanish as you will need it for all the red tape here….

+ Zanella is the same “quality” (sic) motorbike as any other Chinese made, they just import it from China like most cheap brand in South America, and ask for stamp their brand as many others that import from there or India or others countries. Here they only add 2 nuts and 3 bolts Argentinean made.

+ I will not suggest anything in behalf to buy a scooter even a 150-250 cc here its only for city riding, I wouldn’t like to be on the Patagonian ripio with wind on something like that. :scooter:

i will be leaving my yamaha xt660z tenere fully geared up for overland in Cartagena, Colombia, or Panama!

My bike is british licence plate, and is looked after very well, and if you want or considering going from norh to south, start in cartagen, and follow the season contact me, or postid here and we will take it from there.

We have successfully purchased 3 new motorcycles for ourselves in Buenos Aires and have imported and registered 1 used foreign registered motorcycle.

We have assisted many others.

And/or, in Buenos Aires look for a "GESTOR" a person who handles motor vehicle registrations, transfers ect.... "gestors' are generally inexpensive and cover all the bases of vehicle registration quickly and efficiently.
as a business.

If you are purchasing from a reputable dealer your motorcycle registration should be included in the deal.

Don't forget to buy insurance.
