puerto maldonado to rurrenabaque
 

hello out there,

as the sun is slowly beginning to come back to europe, it's time to start planning this summer's south america ride...

what i would like to know is if there is any possibility to connect puerto maldonado/peru directly with rurrenabaque in bolivia - maybe by boat, or even better, road.

any experiences, folks?

Did you guy`s end up doing Puerto Maldonado to Rurrenabaque by boat and how was it?
If it was possible I was wondering about border formalities with a bike?

has been 6 years ago since I drove from Brazil via Puerto Maldonado to Cuzco. Then, apart from this road there was only one other junction: to Juliaca. But nothing (direct) to Rurre. Had to go via Brasileia in Brazil in order to get there.
Have had no info that they have build that road. In the last years they did improve ( a lot!!) the above mentioned road as that is part of the so called Interoceanica which connects Brazil with the Pacific.
