Quito, Ecuador
Just a note for anyone heading to Quito. Make sure you look up Albert, at the Turtles Head pub - just opposite and round the corner from the Marriott Hotel.
He was very helpful and actually got a friend to offer me the use of a BMW front wheel, if one didn´t arrive from the UK - it turned up today- and gave me some good tips on heading south, through Peru. The pub is great and is the local for many an ex-pat - serving proper pints and pub gub. When your miles from home he´s just the type of guy you want to bump into! No doubt many of you have already met him, he´s been there 9 years! Mike |
Glad your wheel showed up and you didn't have to take mine!!

Albert
Yes, I've met Albert and he was very helpful in my case too. No one in town had a tire including the BMW shop. However, when Albert came to the pub about 4 pm, he had me one within one phone called. It was a great hook-up. I'm glad to hear you are getting the necessary parts to continue. Have a great day!

I tried to convince him to come down here first, because when he arrived we went to Austro Motors and they had his tire. The U.S. tire shop told him it would take 8-10 days First Class Air mail USPS. I had been waiting 3.5 weeks on my parents First Class Air mail USPS package. He decided to just buy the tire at Austro Motors and continue on. Cuenca, Equador Austro Motors address Presidente Cordova I-71. (downtown Cuenca) |
