Yes, compared to then it is! I rode it in 2001, took me 1 week from Iñapari to Cusco, now 1,5 day. On the otrher hand one can enjoy the scenery more now and that is beautiful, and the difference of the two countries seems more like two worlds is stunning. A kind of modern, white and flat Brazil and the indian high mountain culture where it seems time stood still.
There is a roadside restaurant, Panelão Minero, very friendly owners, where you may camp. About one hour before you get to Rio Branco (coming from PV) : S9 59.943 W67 11.563
