Road conditions in Peru
Howdy! I am in Lima and planning to go to Cusco shortly. Anybody know what the road conditions are like by way of Ayachucho? I know it is the rainy season up that way, so any current info would be helpful

Hi James, I`m presently in Huanucu hoping to gross to Huaraz via La Union. I have come up from Cusco over the last 2 weeks via Abancay to Ayacucho, (a long and tiring 2 day stretch) then on to Huancayo via Santa Ines, a great ride. I had to delay one day after heavy rain broke the banks of a stream at the Santa Ines turn off the main drag but so far I am surviving. I think that this route should probobly be done as at leasst a pair but as this is my first moto trip what do I know. Give me a yelp if you want anymore info. Ride safe, Mike

me and my girlfriend took lima to nasca, nasca to abancay, abancay to cusco. the whole route is beautifully paved, no worries. the only thing is that we froze to death in the pampas galeras just outside nasca (going toward cusco) but that only lasted a couple hours.
mind you this was all in december. the idea is that you could do this route in a couple days instead of ayacucho. i heard ayacucho is a disaster of a road. totally banged up a couple bikes of some guys i met when they came into cusco. ....j |
