Salar de Uyuni in April
Hi,
I am planning a South America trip next year and want to ride the Salar de Uyuni in april. Depending of the information source, this is the end of the rainy season or the beginning of te dry season. What is the general condition of the Salar at that time of year? Dry, flooded? Tnx T |
There is no answer to this question. It's asking "what's the weather going to be? Will it be a dry 'rainy-season', or a wet 'dry-season', or just normal?"
Perhaps you ought to fix your travel dates for the middle of the dry season - then you leave less to chance, although with mother nature, who can say? So, you find out when you get in the area - then the crystal ball gazers will have a clearer picture of the situation. |
Good advice to plan the trip a bit latter. I`ve been in Uyuni in April and it`s great and other times it`s flooded. It only takes 1 day of rain for the Salar and route to San Pedro completely changes. Not the end of the world if you`re just out on the Salar but you don`t want rain if your half way across the Altiplano to San Pedro!
