Buquebus

Thanks for the links, questions remain. The cheapest ticket appears to be a not adjustable one, for $189 AR pesos (~$40.00 USD) departing from the nearby port "Colonia" (which I figure is really "Colonia Del Sacramento")
When I try to book passage I get a funny error message: "Debe seleccionar bodega en ambos viajes" Google translate say the above means: "You must select winery on both trips" I tried lots of possiblities, different browsers, and get the same road block error message each time. Any Spanish speakers out there have a better translation of the error message then Google? In the end I may just skip Montivideo and cross from Uruguaiana, BR to Paso de los Libres, AR. |
The Buquebus web site was not working when I was there in Nov.
There are buquebus "offices" in Pundta Del Este & Monte - go in to them and they will book you & your bike in. The cheapest way is the 3 hour old tug, the other is a fast Cat (only 75 mins). The fair is about $40 per peson and a bit more than that for the bike. Go to Colonia early as it is a nice place to visit and the port is right in the town. The boat drops you right in the middle of BsAs near retiro and on the Acceso Norte. Have fun Delb |

Actual costs
The cost for me and moto ended up being $86.00 (USD) one way from Colonia to BA, via slow boat. You'll be stamped out and given a AR visa in Colonia. Leaving the ferry a guy will wave you down to complete the importation papers, its painless.
