Hi all,
Any one got any experience of shipping out of Ecuador to Europe ?
Had a look on travellers shipments but nothing there ?
Appreciate any recommendations

Dave

if it's anything like shipping in, it'll be a complete nightmare. contact ricardo rocco via the quito community. he knows everything about everything. Guyaquil dockyard is the biggest toilet on the planet IMHO.

Hi
We shipped into Ecuador from Panama, cannot help you with any info on shipping out of the country to Europe.

But we know a customs agent who can probably help, if you cannot get hold of Ricardo. He is very good, well known at the port and in with the TOP guy in customs. Although he was not the fastest man on the track he got our motorbikes out and tried his hardest to get our two friends, who had not got a carnet de passage for thier jeep, permission to stay in the country. At first customs were not going to let them unload it, they had to turn around and take it back to Panama. Our customs agent took us right to the top of the customs ladder to smoke a peace pipe with the chief, the chief allowed our friends to unload the jeep but they had to drive straight out of the country with an escort.
Here is the telephone number of a customs agent 04 2303570 that we used at Quayaquil
Vicete Comano was his name. If the number does not work then go to the port and ask around, everyone knows him. He charged us $100 for everything, 2 motorbikes and a jeep, no bribes paid. Like I said he is not the fastest of workers, be patient with him, but he did try his hardest for the couple with the jeep.
Please note this was in 2002
Good luck
Annette
