Shipping to Panama? Clearing Customs in Panama?
We're considering a ride from Panama to the US in early-to-mid 2005. Since we're time-limited, we're considering flying the bikes down and picking them up in Panama.
There also doesn't seem to be any recommendations re shipping from the US to Panama. I guess that's an indicator that most people don't use Panama as a starting point. Would anyone have any recommendations? I did a quick research of the site and there doesn't appear to be any specific information or comments regarding customs other than it was simple and inexpensive to clear customs in Panama. Can we safely assume that the normal documentation will suffice? Ownership papers, passports, etc? Many thanks! Gerry |
Flying the bikes from anywhere in the US to Panama should be no big deal, other than the usual hassles with dangerous goods etc out of the US. I wouldn't worry about it until a few months before you go - everything changes too much to plan too far out. Take it as a given that it should be possible.
Normal ownership/registration papers, passports, international drivers licences should be fine for all of Central America. Whatever you used for Mexico will be enough. Just watch the expiry dates for all the paperwork, and be sure the numbers really do match up. Check serial numbers yourself! ------------------ Grant Johnson Seek, and ye shall find. ------------------------ One world, Two wheels. www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
Uh... we went cross country to get into Mexico to avoid customs... (kididng of course!)
Thanks for the advice... didn't think it was a big deal based on the notes of others! Take care. |
