ships from BA to the US?
Does anyone know of any freighters/ships that take passengers from Buenos Aires to the US, preferably Texas? At some point I'll be needing to return...with dogs, another complication. Thought I'd do some legwork early as I won't be flying.

Hola Lorraine
:thumbdown:Sorry, but doesn't exist a "Roll-On Roll-Off" service from BA to anywhere in US, as I know only to EU (Grimaldi)… Saludos. |
Ah, the famous Dakar Motors. ;-) I'm not looking for RORO, as I'll be selling my van (probably as parts) before I leave SA. So with this new info, are there ships that'll take passengers??? And which ones most likely to accept dogs....?

Hi Lorraine
As I know only Cruiser ships will take passengers now, Cargo boats no anymore…. Saludos. |
This is what I've heard (and feared). Know of anyone with a private plane??? ;-)

Lorraine, so you're trying to make your way back to the US (to TX) by ship/boat? It's just you and your two dogs, correct?
As Javier mentioned I don't think you can hitch a ride with the cargo ships anymore. You might want to try going to "el puerto" and talking with some of the cargo captains. I guess "air" is out of the question? Can the dogs travel by air or do you prefer not to send them by air? Buena suerte!!! |

Air or Sea? Isn’t the question…..Sorry but not other way than Air… “Know of anyone with a private plane???” hahaha!!! Argentina is a pour country, even the richest guys in Argentina can’t afford a private plane than can flight to USA….and for sure I don’t know anyone in this kind of financial healthy position… :) Saludos. |

Thanks for all the 'genuine' responses. ;-)
By the time I head back, the dogs will be 12, so flying isn't a very healthy option. Smugglers boats etc, are all fine with me, as long as it's a BIG boat. When I say private plane, I mean the ones used by BIG companies. This is definitely wishful thinking, and I might need to get a best seller to court these people... which I'll work on. I'm assuming because of the current, nothing sails from Santiago north???? All ideas welcome!!!! Lorraine |

Maybe you should consider to talk to Mr Antonini Wilson who was bringing for the Queen Cristina some little ilegal change(900.000 us) on his private jet! Joke apart, have you asked on regular airliner how is that with dog fligths?I knew some 4x4 travellers who fligth in their dogs....or is it a question of money? And if you smuggle them out is that easy to do the same "in" to the us?I don´t think so.... How many dogs are they anyway? KH |
Do yiou have Mr. Antonio's telephone number? ;-)
I've flown the dogs before, but it is dangerous for them, the older they get. VERY risky. Many animals die while flying. As for smuggling, they have all their papers, so that's not a problem. It's all legal, but just need to find a boat!!! Or, private plane... Lorraine |

You may contact Centurion Cargo and speak with Mr Razzini. They fly into Miami, and have spare space from time to time. I do not have their address, but you can GOOGLE it: They are very micro-CENTRE in Buenos Aires. You invited me for a beer as I was riding through Peru in January, but I was bootin´it at that point. I am flying my bike back to Toronto in two days, and I follow very soon afterwards. I have spent 20 months in Latin America. Now I am heading for the Canadian Rockies until October. Bueno suerte!! |
Hello Lorraine,
nice to see you here. I know of a company that arranges cargo ships for private persons. They don't come cheap, but if it serves your purpose... Looking forward of meeting you.. Javier, thanx for the relaxed meeting yesterday |
