Show time!
Well gang, this is mostly a thank you to all the folks whose wisdom (etc.) I've been reading on this site for the last coupla years getting ready for today. This is the day we roll out of Santa Fe, headed south, with ultimate destination someplace in Argentina.
Any of you who know New Mexico know the weather can be anything this time of year. Well, what it is today is a whole lot of snow and ice. So we'll be trailering down to maybe el Paso, or someplace in the vicinity. Tomorrow, we'll re-launch on the bikes from wherever we end up tonight, which is to say wherever we find dry roads. We expect to cross the border at Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras on Monday. So as I said, many thanks to all who contribute to this site. You may not have known it, but you've been an invaluable assist. 'luego, see you on the road, and...WooHoo! Papa Mike, and the most amazing daughter on wheels, Heather Haciendolo… |
Good luck, keep posting!

Out of the snow
South Texas is experiencing unheard of cold temps, and so are we. Landed in Marfa last night and holed up in nice little motel. Picked it based on the Kawasaki parked out front...and the fact that we were frozen and reaction times were getting poor.
This is, for both of us, first time through south Texas and we'd both like to come back...when it's a bit warmer. Rugged beauty, HUGE vistas, nice folks. Today's goal is Eagle Pass, where we'll cross the border tomorrow. To get there, we'll drop about 4k feet of altitude and should pick up about 20 degrees, both welcome. Short note on gear -- yesterday we got our use of a pair of bluetooth headsets. These gadgets are amazing. Good, clear audio at the rated distance -- 500 meters. Any pair o' folks traveling should strongly consider these rascals -- they make so many things so much easier. time to go seek coffee -- cheers to all Mike (and Heather) Haciendolo… |
Have a safe and wonderful trip. Remember the topes! :eek3:
