Situation in France Guyana
Hi, we are on a world tour by 4x4, now on the border from Brasilia to France Guyana at Oiapoque. The latest information from 2 April, there is still a general strike going on and the main road to Cayenne and to the boarder with Surinam along the coast is blocked.
Is there anyone with (better) news about clearing this situation? Or news about the negotiations between France Guyana and the main land France. Here we have hardly any info about the situation… Thanks, Atte |
Atte,
As a foreigner and traveler, many times strikers will allow you to pass through a blockade. If the blockade can be navigated. I was permitted to pass through 5 trucker blockades in Brazil on 1 day. With the strikers permission and riding a motorcycle, I was able to zigzag through the trucks that were blocking the road. Approach any blockade with humility and a smile. Be patient and they may let you pass. Are the bridge and immigration services now operational between Oiapoque (BR) and St. George (FG)? |
Peter,
I am not sure if Atte is one and the same but this is what has been reported on tuckstruck.net As reported on April, 5. 2017 They crossed from Brazil to French Guiana on the bridge, crossing info has also been updated on iOverlander. Safe Travels, |
Atte,
Looks like France gave them 1 Billion Euro's and they stopped the protest. https://www.thelocal.fr/20170406/fra...a-as-demos-end Safe travels, |
