South America eclipse, July 2019
Good day:
There's quite a bit of buzz around the total solar eclipse here in North America on August 21. I'm too far north to see totality, and due to lack of early planning on my part I will not be able to travel to see it. I did a little Googling, and found that the next two total solar eclipses are on July 2, 2019, and December 14, 2020 - and both of these will cut a path across Chile and Argentina. I'm thinking that this might make for a great opportunity to fly to South America and do some riding while having a chance to see the eclipse - but what's the weather like for riding in July? I know it's winter then, but is an extended ride doable out of either Santiago or Buenos Aires at that time of the year? (see map) http://www.beingintheshadow.com/wp-c...-july-land.png |
Wow thanks for the info.
We might just about be around there at that time :D |
Well the eclipse date of 2 July 2019 is fast approaching - is anyone planning their journey to coincide with the eclipse in Argentina and Chile?
There is a full list of eclipses this century on Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_solar_eclipses_in_the_21st_century |

Interesting, thanks for posting.
I'm myself in Trujillo Peru now, might be in the area at the time of the eclipse... |
