Storing motorcycle in the desert
To save on storage costs (financial and administrative), I am comsidering leaving my bike in the desert somewhere near the Peru-Chile border. Does anyone have experience or general advice on doing that? I have a few thoughts/ questions:
1) How dirt-bike-accessible are the desertic areas near Tacna and Arica? Are there stones to create camouflage? 2) How good are the conditions for storage? Dryness seems an advantage, but will the night-day temperature differential be harmful? Can you think of any desert-specific measures to be taken? Suggestions for other methods of unconventional storage are also welcome. |
For how many days you'll leave your bike in Peru? Be carefull with the time of the TPIV, because if you exceed the 90 days allowed + 30 days of waiver, your bike will be confiscated for the police. In that case, you need to make the paper work to freeze the time and storage your bike in a right place.
If you'll be covered with the allowed time, I recomend you storage your bike in a appropiate place, because is not much time to pay for the storaging. In both options, you need to storage your bike in a place. By other hand, if you leave your bike in the desert, you take the risk that somebady take it and lose all. |
