Thinking of selling my bike in Chile
 

In 2015 I rode my 2007 Suzuki DR 650 from the US to Ushuaia then back to Santiago, Chile. I could not have asked for a better bike to handle the variety of conditions I met. While in Santiago, I met the love of my life and am now married. We live in the US 6 months and Santiago the other 6 months. I still have the trusty DR parked in Chile where I ride occasionally, not wanting to ride it back to the US. I have been taking it over the border to Argentina every 3 months while in Chile to renew its visa and when in the US I ask for extensions online. From what I have heard, I may never be able to register the DR in Chile and not wanting to continue with the hassle of updating the visa every 3 months I am considering selling it. It is a wonderful bike and I hate to sell it but since I plan to be here permanently I think it would be better to buy a local bike registered in Chile. I am sending out feelers to see if there is any interest this time or year or if I should wait until October, November. Here are details:

It is fun, powerful, (no problems crossing the Andes fully loaded), simple to work on, dependable, (starts right up after being parked for 6 months) bullet proof and lighter than other 650's. Log of all maintenance records since I bought it at 9400 miles. New fork seals and oil, I am about to replace the front sprocket, brakes are fairly new and goes into the shop Monday for other service, possibly a new battery. I will be in Santiago until May at which time it will go into storage until November.

If you sell to a foreigner, Alex Smith can register it in their name in Washington state, he can be found on facebook and I think is on here as well. To sell to a Chilean, you would have to go to Iquique or another free zone.

Go to Casa Matte and ask the owner if you can put an add there to sell the bike.

Many bikes change hands there.
