Tires: Punta Arenas or Ushia?

Hola fro Puerto Natales. I am heading south but need new tires. I have about 2 mm tread left, I think I could go to Ushia on what I have, but I can buy them in Punta arenas if it will be much cheaper. The bike is a hondsa nx 400 falcon. Where would be cheapest and what do you recommend iI buy? I also need an oil change and would like to get an extra clutch lever. Does anyone have recommendation s for parts/mech in Punta Arenas?

Thanksd,
n

Rio Gallegos, on the Argentina mainland after you head north from Ushuaia should have a good selection of tires, in case you dont find anything in the free port area of Punta Arenas.

I`ve found things not to be necessarily cheaper in southern Argentina, so i would make the decision based on what you find, not so much where. Strangley at KTM Santiago it was 96,000pesos (USD210) for a 90/90-21 Pirelli MT60, and then i found the same tyre at the small Yamaha shop in Puerto Montt for 27,000 (USD59). Both made in Brazil. I`m sure part of the difference is due to KTM Santiago`s customers being the type of people who buy everything from the one dealer, so they take advantage.

I would seek a road biased road/trail tyre of a popular brand, like the MT60, as most of this part of the world is either tarmac or fast flat gravel.

I`m in Ushuia now so if i find the shops i`ll let you know what they have.
BTW - Johan sent you a PM

The Yamaha/Gilera store in Ushuaia has 3 x 90/90-21 Metzler Sahara 3s for $ARS260, and a matching 140/80-17 for $ARS380. They`re very similar to a Pirelli MT60, and both made in Brazil, so it was actually cheaper in Chile, for this region of both countries.
