From Toronto to Tierra del Fuego starting April 2003
Hi,
I'm going on a RTW trip on a BMW F650GS, starting April 2003 and the first leg will be from Toronto, Canada to Tierra del Fuego. I'm heading straight south to the USA, where I will go west once I get to agreeable weather and go to San Francisco. I plan to spend about 5 weeks in the US. I will then travel from Mexico to Panama (May-August). In South America, the plan is to ship to either northern Colombia, Venezuela or Guyana. If none of these options look good in August, I'll go to Ecuador. In SA, I will travel south on the western side until Ushuaia for Xmas 2003, then back up east to Brasil. So far nothing odd about such a trip, if it weren't for the telescope I'm taking with me! This is a regular optical instrument for astronomical observations and weights a whopping 7 Kg. Apart from the travelling and having fun, my plan is to give kids a chance to see the sky through a telescope. For trip details, such as the planned route, trip reports and pictures, check http://aroundamoteofdust.tripod.com Cheers, Nelson |
Hi,
I live ten miles from San Francisco and I'll be leaving in June, heading south. I also plan to be in Usuaia by Christmas, so we will probably be running into each other along the way. Stop by on your way by if you like. I'll be catching up to you eventually. |
Use Panavia cargo out of Panama. They charge $350 no matter the weight. If you end up in Quito, look up Ricardo Rocco aroundforpeace "you know what" yahoo dot c0m
Ricardo can set you up with help getting your bike out of the Aduana Jail and he is well known in the moto-community there. Quite a character to boot =================== email address in post "hidden" from spamrobots by Grant - see http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/faq.shtml#notify for why. Hi All,
I'm doing the same trip but starting in Alaska in early May. Will probably be in SF in June and going into Mexico in July/August. Will probably run into you at some stage I'm riding an XT225. Cheers, Lois London, UK |
Todd,
thanks for the information on Panama and Ecuador. I might find it useful if I end up shipping to Ecuador. Nelson |
