Trip to Costa Rica mid-June to mid July

I plan on riding a road bike from the USA mid -Atlantic area to Costa Rica.
Plan is to cross into Mexico at Brownsville and head across north of Mexico City to Acapulco and then down the Pacific Coast.
Would this be pretty much the quickest route?

Would like to return on a more easterly route. What would the wisdom of the board suggst for that?

Not to convince you not to go, but that isn't the best time to go. Extreme heat in Mexico and rainy season in Costa Rica. Sounds like going to north Africa in July. Or Alaska in January. Check the weather first. Have you been to Newfoundland or Nova Scotia? Much better that time of year. Southern Mexico was hot enough in Febuary when I was there.

I am sure you are correct. But part of the reason for going is to see Costa Rica during it's worst weather. Plus only a latent masochist would ride from here to there by motorcycle instead of nice cheap flight.

Nothing wrong with the timing except of course for the rain.On the mexican coast is hot any time of the year,I was there in Feb,very cold through the middle of mexico, very nice also, lovely open rd,little traffic and nice sweeping curves. The only time we encountered a dirt rd was in El Salvador, about 30Km of it,no big deal, just a dirt rd.From the south of Guatemala to northern Costa Rica is pretty hot,no matter when, but of course is much hotter and humid in Jan,Feb March.
Hope to have been of assistance.
