Tyres&Accomodation in Quito
 

Hi,

I´m in Panama City and will be flying the bike&myself to Quito in the next few days. The bike is almost due for some new tyres. The 21inch front is no problem but are 17inch rear tyres easily available in S.America?(Bike is an Africa Twin)
Also I´m looking for accomodation near the airport whilst I clear the bike thru Ecuador customs. Any help/advice appreciated.

I bought a rear tire for my KLR 650 in Quito a year ago at a Dunlop car tire place. Dunlop Trailmax 130/80-17. Don't remember the name, you can ask Albert at the Turtle's Head Pub in Quito. His HU handle in theturtleshead, I think. Pirelli Scorpions, made in Brazil, are also widely available, and I prefer those. I was using street oriented tires, so can't offer specific recommendations if you want knobbies.

HI,PERFORMANCE the Dunlop supplier in Quito is about 500m from the beginning of a street called La Prensa,heading north on the right.This is also one of the streets that lead to the airport,so any taxi driver worth his salt will be able to take you there.
Tommy the Korean owner has 10 bikes himself and always keeps a pretty good selection in stock.
