Urgent -family problem - need to fly home and leave bike in brazil
 

Hi all, i'm in bahia. I just got some bad news and need to fly home in days rather than weeks. Me and my bike are near salvador. If i can get a flight home what can i do about the bike? Not leaving is not an option! I will return soon but don't know exactly when :( Paul

From what I remember, you get 3 months for the bike - right? And my experience, on leaving the country to Venezuela, (Santa something), was that I practically had to force them to take my papers. I didn't have a stamp in the passport. If your position is the same, and I don't know if anything has changed, you will be able to leave and return within your alloted time. If you're going to run out of time then, hey, you just have to go, and hope you make it to the border without being stopped. I only got stopped once in Brasil, ('cos I lost my plate), but even then I think I would have been OK sans papers. I'm sure you can find someone, hotelier or mechanic perhaps, who will look after your bike. How about a local moto club. If you can make it to Natal, look up B17 - they will be honoured to look after it. Anyway, you gotta do what you gotta do.
