Urgent information needed for Colombia/Venezuela border.
I am currently in Ecuador heading north with the intention of crossing from Colombia into Venezuela. Worryingly I met a Colombian today who said he thought the border was still closed :helpsmilie:
Does anyone **know** what the situation currently is there and if it's likely to last?? thanks in advance! |
Still closed according to the government warning sites. Nothing has changed since Sept 22 last year.

There are discussions at the National Assembly taking place right now about opening the border. Some say it will happen in the next couple of weeks since the decree that closed it expired a few days ago... Reality is no one really knows. Sent from my SD4930UR using Tapatalk |
Brilliant, thank you both for your replies. Sounds like there is at least a slim chance of it reopening, I suppose all I can do for now is keep my fingers crossed!

Given the 6000% increase in the price of fuel a few days ago, plus increasing inflation and worsening shortages, sounds like it is going to remain a difficult place to visit even if the border is reopened

Yes, reported 3 days ago, plus official devaluation of the currency, should really stir the people up - although they already have plenty of reasons . Highest murder rate in the world, worst performing economy etc etc
BTW 60 times almost zero still isn't very much by our maths, but the locals don't use our maths. This increase may mean that Ecuador is the cheapest fuel prices |
VZ border
Late finding this, but did you make it? I live in VZ and want to go to Colombia in the next few weeks. The border situation is always in flux. Sometimes it's open and sometimes it's closed but it's almost always possible to cross as a tourist. Hopefully you made it over here. It's a great country for riding and free gas is especially nice. 91 octane is 1 Bolivar and $1 = 3000 bolĂvares Also, no enforced speed limit !!!
