Uruguay border crossing at Colon Argentina
Has anyone made the border crossing from Argentina to Uruguay at Colon Argentina? It's located east of Rosario, Argentina. I would like to now if it is a small easy crossing and if it is open in the evenings and weekends. Thanks

Yeah, did it earlier this year. Took the ferry across, and did an all day cruise before heading back on the late 10pm ferry and it was on a Saturday.
Just do a search on google and you will see ther boat times and costs Cheers TS |
There is also a bridge at Fray Bentos, which is further south on the river. It is the site of the blockades by protesters. Right now the bridge is open, though some days it is not.
The person/vehicle ferry between BsAs and Colonia across the mouth of the delta. It is fast and saves alot of driving time rather than the bridge 200kms to the north. See the Buquebus website for pricing. |
Thanks for the replies
I was looking at the northern crossing since my bike is stored in Rosario and I only have a short time to take the bike to Urugray and get the import permit renewed in Argentina. I had an eight month permit but it's ready to expire and all I can get off work for is one week. I'm hoping I can fly down and ride across the border, then turn around and get a new eight month Argentina import permit.

You can have your TVIP extended by Argentine Aduanas without having to cross the border. Visit the Aduanas office in Rosario to ask. I have never done this process, though i have heard it is possible. So if you do it successfully, please let me know! I think you might even be able to have someone else do the process for you if they are legally authorized by you.
