I will be VERY impressed if you guys make it. It was FREEZING cold for our travels through that area, and that was back in late March. The ice cutters had already stopped going south.

I would also consider the journey over the last pass VERY dangerous during this time of year. It is remote and if anything happened survival could be tough. I enjoy adventure, but the risks associated with a trip down there right now is risk I would not want to take.

I noticed that you wanted to stay on the tar roads, with no dirt. That is not possible. You must take some dirt to get there. And when we went through, there was a lot of torn up roads due to construction. I am sure the construction worker are out of there by now, but who knows what you will find.

Good luck, and travel safely!

Great Websight1

Dale and Sandy,
Checked out your web site to see how your trip went...especially the southern tip of SA. Very cool. We are headed to Bariloche tomorrow and that will only mean about an hour on the road so should be good. We are hoping for any break in the rain but it seems mother nature has buckets to spare. Thanks for the temp updates...

Hook,
We were snowed out of Bariloche and decided to take yours and everyone elses advice and save riding down to Ushuaia for the future. A little bummed but icy roads are no fun. We just arrived in Buenos Aires...have you left for Africa yet?

All in all, a wise decision. I was in the Falkland Islands last week (same latitude, more or less) and it was windy, cold, and snowy. Not at all the kind of weather I would want to ride in under any circumstances.

Hey

Lynne and Tom, I'm up in San Ignacio right now. Tomorrow I'm off to AsunciĆ³n. I'll spend a couple days there before heading to the Iguazu falls. Perhaps we can meet there if you're heading north. After the falls I'll be heading south through Brasil, back to BA- then off to Capetown. Hope to see you soon, D.
