what is the best place to leave your bike for a couple of years?

as the title states, what is the best place to leave a bike for an undefined period of time?

In some countries I guess you will run into a lot of trouble since your temporary import permit will run out.

I am currently in BA and may look at storing the bike if I cant sell it for a price that I find fair.

Would prefer a solution that wasent too dodgy.

Any ideas?

Leave it in Uruguay

Leave it in Uruguay. You have a year and they are much nicer if you overstay. You can leave and go to Brazil without passing through Uruguay customs also.

thanks for the info

so anyone got an idea of a safe place to store a bike in Uruguay?

Paraguay also

A guy i spent some time with in Asuncion said recently a German guy left his bike at his house for a few years, and made no mention of there being any problem. Which makes sense, as there is a way around everything in Paraguay.
Plus you can just ride into Brazil without stopping at immigration/customs from Ciudade Del Este to Foz de Igazu. But i don´t know him that well to know if the same can be done for you.
I met other guys at a MX race which i´d trust, so you´d have to find the local biker community yourself if you choose Paraguay. They´re not shy of riding between clubs and bars, even with an unfinished beer in their hand/pocket, so you might have to do some fast learning there Pete :-)
There is a bikeshop in the east of Asuncion, Gotze Service, and the owner is a Paraguayian born German that seems honest enough. Michael Gotze 0983 448 661. He has a few large bikes there too.

Thanks for the info.

If I can't get a decent price for my bike, then that will be my plan as I know I will return.

When I left Paraguay through Ciudad del Este to Brasil, Paraguay customs refused to take my temporary import document. It's a busy crossing and they just dont care. Not saying this will be the case 2 years from now, but they are definetly not too strict.
