What do Uruguay customs ask for?
 

Crossing into Uruguay from Argentina soon. There are complications with the bike's ownership papers (nothing illegal, just not the quite right ones). Do Uruguay customs official look at Argentinian papers? Do they cross check? Hopefully not. Can anyone remember if they do?

I crossed twice into Uruguay,

first time 01/2003 with the ferry from BsAs to Colonia. Only rego papers asked for with the bike details to get a white paper for Uruguay.

second time 12/2003 over a bridge a bit north of BsAs, dont remeber the name of the places. The same, nobody asked for the argentinean paper on the Uruguay side only the rego paper to enter Uruguay.

No, I dont think they crosscheck. And I think it is even possible to ride all the way thru Uruguay without any import paper for the bike, e.g. if you arrive late. But get one for Brazil.

Just have something ready that looks like a rego paper from your homecountry and speak very bad spanish.
