What should I wear?
 

Off to Argentina in late September for 3 months and by end of October we expect to be in Ushuaia, followed by a Andean crossing at Chile Chico before heading north again only to cross back over the Altiplano heading for Missiones and Iguazu before the return to BsAs for Christmas and our return home.

So what should I wear.

I have a 2 piece goretex suit with removable thermal lining, a light summer 2 piece kit as waterproof as a sieve, but nice and airy in the heat, or I can buy a similar adventure (HG Tuareg) 2 piece kit. In both the latter cases, I would need to rely on 1-piece waterproofs for rain and wind protection. I gather that further south it can be rainy and about 8-14 celsius if I remember.

I should point out that the summer sieve kit was fine with the 1-piece, when I did Norway in late September.

Pros: GTX kit is good in the cold and wet and is sturdy. Other 2 options are light weight, easy to walk in and take up little space.

Cons: big kit is, er well, big and stuffier in hot conditions. Other kit is going to be damn cold in the Andes and Tierra del Fuego, and if the 1-piece gets damaged, I'm up the creek.

I think you will have more cold wet days then temperate ones!
Of course you can have some hot too,but is dificult to say!
When i ride with my "warmer" days suit and find some cold i put my rain suit on and it helps a lot.
On the other way is allways a thing to ventilate a Membran suit.Driving with open zippers???? hahahahah
I think you must decide and take it as it come!

I'm also planning on getting to BA for October for about 6 months or so and am currently considering the Hein Gerike 'Cruise' suit (£450) which has lots of vents and removable lining. Its also a hell of a lot lighter than my own kit and has gotten good reviews

HG are currently doing £50 off some products and I've been told i can get the cruise suit for £400
