Where can I get insurance in Uruguay for my 24 year old Land Rover
 

Long story short we bought our Defender in Brazil and are currently now in Uruguay. We weren't told of the insurance requirements until being in country so now we are in need. Looking for a month and would love to add theft coverage as well. I only need a month because after I'm going to store the Defender in a container until we come back in January. Thanks

Entering Uruguay you will need SOAT. Insurance 3th party. That is all. Don't bother too much. Be carefull and buy a steering lock. I am in Tarija. Just bought a 40 yaer old serie 3. Come and visit. I put you up. Tarija it is.

Yea the problem is we didn't get Brazilian insurance when we bought the car because I thought it already was included. So yea now I'm trying to play catch up. I'll check out a car dealership. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you are going to store your vehicle for a long period there is a thread on fb group overlandingtheamericas which would be of interest.

iOverlander.com has a separate category for insurance sellers.

I doubt whether you will get comprehensive insurance anywhere but the liability insurance is required. You should be able to get one policy that covers from Peru and Brazil and all countries south.

On the border in Chui in front of the biggest petrol station there is a small insurance office which sells the carta verde. I always buy it there( brazilian registered car)
