Xmas meet in Ushuaia
Well, now we left Viedma, (actually El Condor!) and before I forget:
Xmas meet in UShuaia is at Camping Rio Pipo. How to get there: Go toward the rugby Club and the National Park. When the road turns to ripio, after the rugby club, the campsite is there. I have been told that there is a covered area. In case it rains,we will still be able party! Daniel (or whoever been there before) if I made a mistake correct this! It was amazing to meet all of you guys in Viedma! Hope to see you soon! |
Gps
If anyone has the GPS co-ordinates handy, then posting them up would be a good idea !
I have them, but not on me now !! Where are you now Maria ??? We are all still in Viedma but probably heading to Las Grutas in the morning. Ride safe !! |
Here are the GPS coordinates: S 54°49'697 / W 68°21'566

Camping Rio Pipo
Hey Guys, Count on me being there as long as the bike makes it with me on it (of course) and on time.
In Santiago at the moment. 3 days time and hopefully I will have a sweet running machine once more. Simon www.globla-enduro.com p.s I like christmas pudding by the way, incase someone wants to make one. |

Fingers crosssed
Hopefully I will too make it to the Christmas meeting. Thanks for getting out the details about the campsite Maria and Albert.
Cheers and ride safe. Susan |
Ed and Elisa, got all the messages, it´s ok we will check scout750´s bike. Seems exciting your trip, you must tell me all about that when we´re back in BAs, in April! Hope we can stay with you!
TedMagnum: we´re in Peniula Valdes, leaving tomorrow to go to Trelew to visit the Dinosaures museum (!) then all the way south, stopping probably in Puerto Deseado to see penguins, and also some pretrified forests.... Where are you? We saw your mate Duncan here, staying at the Backpacker Hostal. As it is 2 dorms only (one for boys one for girls) you may prefer the campsite if you want a chance to sleep! :D see you all in Ushuaia!!!!! |

what´s the big deal about seeing an alien? Texans see them all the time. |
Hola, made it into Ushuaia yesterday in pouring rain. Weather is slowly improving.
Currently staying in hotel la posta out at the airport roundabout. For those of you who are still travelling, there is a great hostal in Rio Grande called hostal Argentino. Very freindly owners and good bike parking all at the right price. After the ferry ride to Tierra del Fuego take the road south of Cerro Sombrero to onoain then across to San Sabastion as it is in much better condition than the truck route. See you in a couple of Days. Peter&Carol and the old red bmw... |
camping
Hi,
I too have arrived in Ushuaia (finally) Made it here from santiago in 5 days, including a 370 mile detour and a spot of slight seeing as well. Serious mission. Am staying at the fore mentioned campsite. Looks great and weather pretty good really. See whoever is coming soon Simon |
Stuck in Rio Gallegos !
I left Peninsular Valdez 3-4 days ago (I lost count)..
I hit the 3 with the intention to also go to and see some Penguins at Punto Tombo but half way down the ripio, there was major building work going on and they made me turn back when I was only 15 clicks from the coast.. Very pissed off caus its a nightmare doing ripio on Trailwings (deathwings)... So, I went to Commodore Rivadavia for a night, then spent 2 nights in Puerto San Julian.. Today I rode 230 miles to Rio Gallebos in the worst wind of my life. Truely depressing day. Spent 7 hours doing 45mph in killer head winds on the RTA 3. I have to stay here now as Javier from Dakar Motos has sent me some tyres to collect here at Rio Gallegos. They were meant to be here for me to collect today (friday) but the guy said I have to wait until Sunday :( So, im stuck in a uber expensive hotel room waiting for these tyres.. If anyone else is heading to Rio Gallegos, i have 2 spare beds for tonight and Saturday 22nd (maybe longer). Mobile (UK) +44 (0)789 486 0430.. I hope to make Rio Grande for Tuesday or Wednesday next week.. Xmas on the road for me it seems !! |
hey man, tough days hey!
You can ride from where you are to Ushuaia in 1 day as I did it, and more. So if you can you will easily be able to get here from ther 25th! good luck. Simon |
Ted I think I´ll be through Rio G tomorrow. I´ll check to see if you have written. Cheers then see you at some point sat then.

Ted and others
This is probably too late to help but a good hotel on Rio Gallegos is the Hotel Covadonga. On the main street downtown, 65 pesos in Feb. 2007 (for 2), great cycle parking. For tires and repairs the authorized Honda shop has a large selection of tires. I saw the owner repair BMW's,and a Harley, besides the range of Asian bikes. He let me use his shop and tools for 6 days, no charge. Anyone going north on Ruta 3 in the next days or weeks? I left my bike in an unsecured location and would appreciate someone checking to see if it is still there. Martin

Sorry Ted lost a day..Woops! I´ll be through Rio G Tomorrow Sunday. Maybe your tires will be there as well and we can ride together south. Best to send me an email directly and <i will check in when <i arrive SUNDAY..
Martin let me know where you left the bike and on my way back to B. Aires I would be happy to stop in and check on it. Cheers Sue |
