Yellow Fever Vaccine En Route

Hi All

We Are In Austin Texas At The Mo & Need To Get A Yellow Fever Vaccine For Two People, The Total Price Here Is $345 And You Have To Have A Consultation.
Anyone Know Or Have Any Experience In Getting The Vaccine In Mexico Or Central America For A Better Price

$345 sounds awfully expensive for two Yellow Fever vaccinations. I get this vaccination once every 10 years in Canada, and it costs about $50, which includes both the cost of the vaccine and the labour costs associated with the office visit. None of these costs are covered by Canadian public health care.

You might want to investigate this web page at the US Center for Disease Control: click here. I suspect that if you find a clinic that specializes in providing vaccinations for travellers, the cost will be substantially less than what you would have to pay if you visit "any" health care facility.

Be aware that the vaccination does not become effective until 10 days after it has been administered.

The San Jose costa rica hospital

Hi, In costa rica a 2 years ago it seems to me my friends had a wife fly in,as we where getting tickets there to fly with the bikes from panama to bogata the travel agent told us she needed that shot I think. I could be wrong. Anyways she went to the hospital across the street and it cost 10 bucks. I know the hospital was on the right side southbound PA on the outskirts of between the airport and THE EDGE ofsan jose. The travel agent was down stairs from the dennys connected to the best western .

Thanks for all the info, Panama sounds a good bet. Pan European that was the website i got the clinic off, with the expensive charges here in Austin. No doubt there are cheaper ones on there but not in our direction. Also i found a recent thread on here in the health section that had lots of info and i think getting it on the way shouldn't be a problem.
