knee replacement

Does anyone still ride with a replacement?

What 'precautions' do you take for the knee hardware to ride (beyond what you would do for the 'good knee').

What bike mods have you done to accommodate the new replacement (if any)?

I ask because I'm facing a knee replacement and I don't want to give up riding if [possible. :(

Hope this is the right pl;ace to put this question...

Not my knees, but a mate recently had one done & had the same concerns.

His physio made sure he did his recovery exercises & didn't rush back to riding for the first 10 weeks.
After that, he just took it easy on the 1st rides until he knew that the strength was there. Don't be too concerned :nono:
The world won't end & your leg won't fall off either

Good luck with it :thumbup1:

I hope it doesn't fall off..I'm running out of replacement spares!:scooter:

Now that I've gotten my weight down to what the surgeon requires, I can push ahead...BTW, 85-90lbs (roughly 40 kg) in 7 months.

I had my right knee replaced 4 years ago. It has no effect on my ability to ride. I never heard of anyone giving up riding because of a knee replacement.

I had total knee replacement 10 years ago. Before the TKR I had problems riding... I actually had to use a strap to hold my knee in because the wind put too much pressure on it. Since the TKR no problem.

A motorcycle is actually one of the easier ways to travel... whenever I fly I get stopped by security when I set off the alarm. Never happens on a bike :scooter:

knee replacement

Hi, had a complete knee op in nov '15, long and slow recuperation.
Rode my bike for some short journeys last week - no problem.
Standing on pegs for hill with gravel and ruts - no problem.
Manouvering bike in tight spaces - not so good.
Take it easy - you will be ok.

Safe travels

So, how did it go?

I've been putting this off for years and am now in the queue for TKR.
