Life Insurance
Hello, I am a new member. I am wondering where to get a life insurance policy for RTW trip? Thanks for the info.

Hi and welcome.
I don't think that life insurance policies have anything to do with bike trips, i.e. the company probably doesn't care whether you travel or not. Or do you mean health insurance? |
beddhist, i think this may be a country/language/terminology misunderstanding. Life insurance is the very odd term used for a policy where you pay while you are alive and insurance pays your beneficiaries when you die. It should be called death insurance.
manggo4you, do you really want life insurance? or do you really want health insurance as beddhist suggests? I cannot help with life insurance, but there is plenty of info on this HUBB forum and the main website on health insurance - just use the search function. I currntly have health/travel insurance with World Nomads as they are one of only a few that do not exclude motorcycle use. I have not made a claim so cannot pass judgement on them, except to say they offer only basic cover but at low backpacker prices. Regards John |
SKILLO and beddhist, yes I am considering life insurance in addition to health insurance. The need for health insurance is obvious to me. So does life insurance considering the fatal incident that motorcyclist could get.
Normally you can get life insurance with payout before you die or if you loose limbs or become disable. However, I have not found a life insurance companies that would cover me (I am in the US). As soon as I mentioned "travel" and "foreign country" they start backing away. I have not found life insurance covered in HUBB, so I posted it on the closest topic. |
With Travel Insurance, there is a death benefit usually. Isn't this what you want?

There are probably 2 bazillion agents within 20 miles of you that would sell you a life insurance policy. I doubt foreign travel would be excluded by many. Keep you trip plans to yourself. Only be concerned with exclusions. |
Lone Rider,
Yes, I checked the locals and made a mistake of mentioning travel. The exclusion are countries listed on the State Department travel warning list. quastdog, Yes, there are small amount. I wanted a larger coverage. Thanks guys. |
It's probably better to clarify your travel plans to the insurance company, better than them refusing a pay out later based on a technicality. And you wouldn't be around to argue the point.
World Nomads seem reasonable when it comes to claims, i currently have a claim being processed for a stolen camera, they told me it doesn't matter if i've lost the receipts, just send the manual. I haven't seen the money yet though. Sean |
