New travel insurance contract whilst on the road
Hi,
I'm 34, German nationality but lived in England prior to my rtw trip. I left the UK in May 2008. At the time I had purchased a 1-year insurance with Navigator Travel, which has now expired. I'm currently in East Timor, heading over to Australia end of next week. Then stay in Oz until November, then continue into South America. Overall, it's gonna be around 2-3 years on the road. Does anyone know of an insurance which covers motorcycling AND can be purchased whilst I'm on the road/already travelling? Most insurances I've seen will only be valid if purchased prior to departure. Bjorn |

Thanks for the link. I looked into it, but they don't cover motorcycle travel if it's above 125cc or the main form of transport. In my case it's 650cc AND the main form of transport...

when i asked what does vlaid mean the reply was "Hi Alexander The license does not have to be a domestic license if an international license is accepted. As long as the license you hold is legally recognised then there will be a provision of cover. Regards World Nomads" |
Hi Guys, World Nomads dumped me big style a couple of years ago when I was dinked in Mexico. I was on my 2nd year of their insurance but they changed the UK agent who then reduced the engine size from as big as you were licensed for to 125cc and although they sent the new policy details to my home address, I was in South America at the time so yes, I am guilty of not reading the small print. I am grateful that the accident happened when it did and not 2 weeks later when I would have lost my house because I would have been in the USA as it was, the Mexican Docs cut my bill in half and the nurses were magic, but I won't go into that, get your own realisation of fantasies however student nurses and twice daily bed baths were involved. Back to reality, watch the bastards, given a chance they will take your money and stuff you. Ride safe,

Hi,
I contacted World Nomads. But no reply to my inquiry. Has anyone here got other ideas for a travel insurance? Cheers Bjorn |

Hope it helps |
What do you mean with "provision for cover"? Did you have to pay extra, so they would extend your policy to more than 125cc? Did you get any updated terms & conditions sent to you as a PDF?
|
For me it means, they cover all kind of motobikes.(doesn`t matter how much cc).No extra paying.
Where did you see the limitation of 125cc? |
I asked them again –*they said it depends on your country of residence, which for me is the UK. That's why I have a restriction to 125cc, and they say they can't change this.
Any other good travel insurance out there? I used to be with Navigator, but can't do a new one whilst I'm abroad. There's gotta be something.... or am I gonna have to do Oz & S-America without insurance???? |
Try 1 stop travel insurance UK thats what I am using and they seem fine to me. Ride safe.
