travel insurance extensions watch out!
 

I've just run into big problems on travel health insurance and here's a quick warning to others....

This might only apply to UK residents but it's worth looking out for.

Basically, watch out on your policy if you can extend it whilst overseas or not. I took out a policy with Endsleigh UK and they would not give an extension when I decided to prolong my trip. It is in their small print.

Then I found that most UK insurers will only insure you if you are in the UK and at the beginning of the trip. I'm in South Africa at the moment and couldn't get insured here either as I am not a resident.

It's a pretty annoying Catch 22.

The only insurers I could find, after many many phonecalls, who would cover me and were not bothered that I am outside of the UK were trailfinders.com

The moral is, best read all the small print before taking out a policy...

just spoke to Navigator insurance and they told me that i couldn't extend my insurance but that I could take out another years insurance from the country I was in, without returning to the UK
