What medicines to get in Mexico
 

I am planning on traveling South from the US towards Panama in a couple of months with no set return date, and I've read some posts on here about what medicines to carry and what vaccines to get before going. However, that information is several years old.

Because of the crazy prices of healthcare in the US, I think it would probably be much cheaper to buy as much as I can after I cross the border to Mexico. But I'm not sure what I can just get at a pharmacy there, and what I would need a prescription for. And I have no idea if vaccines are a possibility or a good idea to get there. I've had Hep A and booster, Typhoid and all Covid boosters.

Could anyone with experience in these areas help me out?

You might get more replies if you are more specific about which medicines you are after - generic names rather than brand names (i.e. penicillin rather than “Bert Fegg’s Marvellous Cure-all”.

I suggest getting all required and recommended vaccinations noted on the CDC site.

We travel with activated carbon, dolex, antibiotics, and that's about it. If oyu need medicines on the road you can get them at pharmacies in all of Mexico and Central America.
