Advice please! Buying or renting a cheap (Chinese motorbike) in Tanzania
Hi Everyone,
I just decided to head to Tanzania in a few days and am thinking I would like to ride a motorbike there. Does anyone know if buying a cheap, used motorbike is in any way complicated? Specifically do I need to register the change of ownership or do I just give the seller some cash and get the key and documents? Do I need insurance or not? Other option is to rent a motorbike, but since I do not know how long I would stay it might be too expensive. Thanks in advance for any advice, tips etc. Matt |
You might be able to buy a second hand motorbike. You're suppose to register the change of ownership, but a lot of people don't bother. It might create hassle for you if/when you come to sell the bike.
Do make sure you get the paperwork from the owner and you'll definitely need to get insurance. Will you be in Dar? |
So in the end I did not buy a bike because I managed to rent one from a taxi driver quite cheap. But I believe that people usually do not register the change of ownership and should be able to later sell the bike. Cannot confirm from own experience though!
