I will get the diesel price today. But our prices are going up YET again. 34 cents a liter on Dec 1....:censored:

uk_vette 17 Nov 2007 21:34

Petrol, diesel is a bit more expensive, but not much.
Cape Town unleaded = R6.70 / liter
diesel = R6.85
R13.90 = £1.00

roughly 60 pence per liter.

Cash only, you can't buy fuel with credit cards.

Almost 95% of the time you will get served.
The guy filling you tank will wash your windscreen, and expect a tip of about R5.00

I keep detailed stats of our diesel consumption while travelling. I wanted to copy/paste the relevant bits, but the lay-out gets all messy here on the forum. You'll have to check for yourself here: Radio Baobab » Diesel consumption

a few more prices

So i've kept a note of all the fuel i've purchased from Moroccc to Cameroon, all prices in local currency. This is over the last three months, this is generally the petrol pump price although I've paid up to 30% more when buying out of glass bottles or jerries by the side of the road.

Morocco 10.3
Western sahara 6.12
Mauritainia 270
Senegal 693
Gambia 30
Mali 650
Burkina Faso 620
Niger 633
Nigeria 70
Cameroon 603

I hope this is helpful

Fuel in the Gambia

Fuel has gone up here exponentially:
I arrived in Feb 2003 fuel was 19 dalasi to the liter. The dollar was 30 dalasi.
Now the dollar is 23 dalasi, and fuel is 30 dalasi to the liter. SO around $1.15 a liter for super gas, maybe 80 octane, maybe. It is getting expensive.
Diesel is 32 dalasi a liter. It used to be cheaper. It isn't anymore.

okadaman 5 Mar 2008 13:02

South Africa

As from 05/03/2008:

Petrol R8.01
Diesel R8.28

at the coast, add about R0.30 for juice bought inland.

1$US = R7.80

luangwablondes 6 Mar 2008 05:21

Livingstone Zambia

Diesel is K6550 per litre
Petrol over K7400.
Exchange rate K3740 to a US$ at the moment.

Senegal Fuel Price

Hi all,
Yesterday, here in St Louis (Senegal) I filled up at 717CFA a litre but I noticed at a marine gas pump by the river fuel was 565 a litre. Not sure if it's specific for 2 stroke outboards or quite how I'd get the bike up to the pump though! H
