Alternative border crossing Benin to Nigeria?
Hi everybody,
as we are about to cross Nigeria soon i have been looking a lot on several maps lately. On some of them there is a road between Parakou/Nikki in Benin and Kalama/New Bussa in Nigeria. Has anyone ever used this route? Does it actually exist and can it be driven by car? In what condition is it? All relevant info will be highly appreciated! Take care, Koen |
Hi Koen & Heidi,
Already in Benin? I took the road passing Niki. This pic is on the Nigerian side of the border: http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/3f64c...AON.BBYiLRE_PM It's a well maintained laterite road on the Benin side. Once in Nigeria the road has quite some wash outs. The Series III I was travelling with broke a spring on that road (but I think it was bound to brake). I really enjoyed the Nigerian side of that road, which had a disctinct 'welcome back to africa' feeling. It might be a good ID to look for a Cameroon visum in Conackry (or maybe Abuja?. The consulate in Calabar tends to play games. Enjoy your travels! ROb |
I would like to know if it's possible to get 48 hour visa for Benin at the border with Nigeria. Does somebody have experience?

You can get a Benin visum at the border. I think it's valid for 10 or 15 days. I got one in Nattitingu coming from Burkina.
