Angola visa July 2008
I applied for the angolan visa at their embassy in Ghana and was told they would forward my application to Brazzaville Congo and I should have no problem getting a transit visa in Brazzaville. When I arrived in Brazzaville the angolan embassy had a sign saying "No Visas" - I tried to get into DRC to get the visa in Matadi but got turned back by DRC because I didn't have an Angolan visa. I spent 10 days visiting the Angolan embassy in Brazzaville even wrote a letter, eventually the relented and issued a 5 day transit visa. Some fellow travelers with a Jeep tried the same thing after I recieved my visa they gave up after 10 days, they flew to Joburg S Africa and got a visa there (very expensive) and flew back to Congo to continue their journey south. This situation may change in Brazzaville but this is what i experienced. -mike

two years ago angolans refused me a visa in Brazza and in Kin too.. good luck milan |
Does anyone know if the visa situation in Angola changed after their elections last 5th of September? Any experience? Did anyone manage to get a (tourist) visa?

Hi Anne & Reindeer
As you know we got ours in Matadi. Speaking to the owner of hippocampe, he said that he only knows of two people that successfully got their Angola visa in Brazza. We didn't try in Kin but apparently they can only do a transit visa, that's what the jackasses in Matadi told us. Seems Abuja is still the best bet. Joburg (or wherever the embassy in SA is) and New York can also issue them apparently. Try emailing the embassy in Switzerland. As for the elections I don't think much changed it was a ministries only vote, the presidential election is next year. See you soon the New Swelanders |
