In Cameroon with gear but no cycle!
Hi Everyone,
I'm living in Buea for about 6 months and I brought along my MC gear with the idea I'd pickup a bike in-country. So far I've seen some shady imports in Douala that are overpriced (before haggling) and of course all of the Chinese bikes. I know there are a couple of KTMs being passed around the area, etc. If anyone has any leads on a bike or is ending their trip here would be great to talk… If anyone else is coming through the area get in touch, I've got a guest room where I'm staying. In 2007 I bought a 150cc chinese motorcycle. On the roads overthere most of the time fast enough. And if you get stuck with your western machine, there is no mechanic around. For the chinese stuff there is a mechanic at every corner.
Bought a Lifan 150cc for 180.000 CFA, 20.000 CFA for some repairs and parts and sold for 220.000 CFA! Get a insurance, buy a bike with licence plate and make sure you go with the seller to the police for registration at your name. The police in the southwest stopped us all the time. The french part of the country was more welcoming. Happy driving! |
Thanks for the advice! After thinking about it I decided a Chinese bike made the most sense in the country… though finding the best one for me is proving a bit hard. I'm 190cm and pretty heavy.
Looking for a LF250G-* but its rare to find them in Douala it seems… Thanks again! Eric |
Our 150cc, two up, lots of luggage could go 90km/h. By that time there were also better 200cc bikes available.
Succes! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y...0/IMG_7241.JPG |
