is there anyone with info, regarding carnet for mali,ie is one needed or just helpful. any help will be gratefully excepted,

I entered Mali in March 2006 by car without a carnet. The Passavant did cost me 9400 CFA approx. 15 €. The procedure was straight forward once we found the custom office in Niro.
I do not thinkt that it does get easier with a carnet.

We crossed Mali border at Diboli (from Senegal) 19 May -06 on 2 motorcycles. No Carnets was required.
